Our local reserves

Earlier this year, I surveyed our community about some of our local reserves which can become dry dustbowls in the warmer months and could benefit from upgraded landscaping and irrigation.

I had an overwhelming number of responses from our community, and at the State Election, I was pleased to be able to commit $1 million towards the upgrade of a number of reserves in our community.

These upgrades will include installation of irrigation and landscaping to make them more accessible, vibrant, and greener spaces for our families and kids to enjoy all year round.

Irrigation upgrades

Some of our reserves can turn into dry dustbowls. With this funding the local councils will be able to install appropriate irrigation to the reserves to make them lush, green spaces all year round.

Better landscaping

This funding provides provisions for better landscaping. The new plants will make the reserves look and feel better, and will be chosen to suit our weather and environment to minimise water use.

Green space for our community

Local reserves create spaces for birthday parties, fitness, relaxation and much more. By upgrading these reserves with better irrigation and landscaping, it will allow our community to use these green spaces more than we are able to now.

Places for our kids to enjoy

As a Dad, I love taking our kids to the local park. These facilities are great for family picnics, games with the kids and being out in the sunshine.

These upgrades will allow more local families to spend time at their local reserve to do just this.

The below reserves have received funding in the 2026-2027 State Budget for irrigation and landscaping upgrades:

  • Beeches Road Reserve, Hallett Cove

  • Gretel Crescent Reserve, Hallett Cove

  • Perry Barr Farm, Hallett Cove

  • Hume Street Reserve, Seaview Downs

  • Newand Avenue Linear Park, Marino

  • Elura Avenue Reserve, Sheidow Park

  • Hughes Court Reserve, Trott Park

  • Islington Drive Reserve, Trott Park

  • Strutt Court Reserve, Trott Park

Susan Grace Benny Reserve in Seacliff Park has also received $250,000 for new landscaping, additional tree canopy cover, 20 new TreeNet inlets, and the removal of the fence around the park.
